My Father, George Berry, began specialising in drains in 1991 as a Franchisee of Dyno-Rod Plc in Bath and district. With his extensive knowledge and experience in Engineering and Management, and the attitude that the ‘customer is king’, he quickly expanded his area to include most of Wiltshire and parts of Banes, Somerset and Oxfordshire.
The challenge of finding a solution to the myriad of design and repair problems was always met with enthusiasm and much success. The prolonged experience of solving so many different drain problems added much to the specialist equipment and personal knowledge of both George and his company from roman drains to present day plastic pipes. I gained much of my experience with my father from a young age. Every summer I worked with the dig up crew so that I could save some pennies.
When the time came recently for George to retire he sold the franchise back to British Gas who now currently own Dyno Rod. Dyno Rod were looking to amalgamate their franchises into a large company run organisation based in Bristol which covers much of the south west. That is when Alpha Rod was born.
With Alpha Rod I applied the old family philosophy and created a helpful local drain solution company. Also after 18 months of retirement my father then joined me part time to ‘keep his hand in’ and add that wealth of experience when required.
Although a relatively young company we pride ourselves on the many years of knowledge we have and that we can use this knowledge to best advise our customers. Alongside this experience and knowledge base we have all the latest up to date equipment required to perform non dig solutions such as patch lining, lining and re-rounding of pitch fibre pipe. We also have the most up to date camera and tracing equipment which enables us to do surveys for the water authorities, house purchases and to prevent repeated blockages.
